Daraja House

First Love Kenya has been in desperate need of a transitional home for the older kids who are now turning 18 and forced by the government to leave the children's home. Once again, God has provided the property & money to start building and our team was honored to be part of the groundbreaking ceremony! 
"Daraja" means "Bridge" in Swahili, and this new home will provide just that....a bridge from childhood into adulthood. It will give 18-25 year olds a safe place to live and develop their independance; a free place to stay while they goto college and/or learn job/trade skills to eventually support themselves. We were the first team to get a sneak peek at the future site and watch the machines already at work to clear the land, level the ground &'dig the foundation:
Our team all kneeled at the site and prayed for the future home and each precious life that would reside within its walls. 
As we prayed, I visualized the faces of the older students at First Love that we have watched grow over our 3 visits, and a deep joy swelled in my heart for them to have this tremendous gift & opportunity. Once again, First Love is giving these orphans "a hope and a future"!!!
