During the night huge swarms of millions of flying termites descended (they call them white ants) and all lost their wings at the exact same time. Such a phenomena of nature!!! I tried googling to do some research on line but couldn't find much info. And asking around here everyone seemed completely unphased that these wings were not here when we went to bed but were carpeting the sidewalks around the guesthouse here when we woke up!
The feathery little wings were fluttering thru the wind everywhere we went...random ones would come floating down from the ceiling during church. Such large wings for such little bodies.
But the best part came the next morning when we found a plate of toasted ones waiting for us next to the homemade donuts!!!
Do you remember this poem from an earlier post:
Apparently these termites are the exact ants they love to eat! How could we at least not try them???
"When in Rome do as the Romans do!"
The kids are right....they are pretty tasty. Crunchy, salty, almost nutty flavored. Much healthier than a handful of chips that's for sure! It's just getting your head to stop telling you they are ants. Mind over matter!
