About Us

My photo
We make intentional lifestyle choices to use the abundance God has given us here in the U.S., so that we can give to those less fortunate than us in 3rd world countries. We want others to see the difference as Jesus, not us. We are all sinners in need of a savior. We are NOTHING without Jesus! Everything we have comes from Him and it is such a blessing to share it!

Upping the Ante (no pun intended)

So one of our sponsored sons learned that Uncle Joey enjoyed eating the ants and had eaten a queen ant in Kenya on our last trip, so he promptly dug up 2 queen cases from the bottom of the termite hills (more like mountains) and presented the treat to Joey:
This is what was inside when we cracked them open:
All the smaller ants are called soldiers. There is 1 male in each case (exactly like the kind we ate for breakfast yesterday). You can see it in the picture below.
One case had 1 HUGE queen:
and the other case had 3 smaller ones (which he said is very rare...a special treat indeed!)
Just for the record, the queen ant Joey ate in Kenya 2 yrs ago was NOTHING like these!!!! That looked more like a grub.
The ant is actually still attached and its abdomen is extremely swollen and pulsating & bubbling in all directions! *gag inserted here*
Here's the underside:
It's very soft & squishy of course and when u cut one open it looks like a raw egg yolk. Anissa actually licked the juice and it truly has no taste...it's just a texture thing. That and the fact that there is a wriggling ant attached to the end!!! She may have been brave enough to taste the insides but she could NEVER do this:
The chewing is not so bad....
...but the swallowing will definitely get you:
Just think of it as a Gushers (the squirting gummy candy)! 😉
What's next on the menu Joey...????
