"Baraka" means "blessing" In Swahili. First Love opened a sewing center for widowed women from the Kibera slum, as a way to generate income so they can support themselves and provide for their children.
The women's center used to be on the Raila Ed Center property, but First Love built them a beautiful facility here on the Children's Home property that is 3x as big. So the women walk 45 min from the Kibra Slum to come and sew.
The African women have such creative ways of carrying things! This widow tied a plastic bag to her head wrap to carry her fabric.
This adorable little girl came every day with her mother. At first she would cry every time she saw me (she was scared of this mazungu trying to dote over her), then as she got more used to me, she would just act shy and look away...
Alea loves to sew, so she spent a morning helping the ladies.
A special treat was on Fri afternoon, Anissa joined the for their weekly devotions.
It was a powerful time of worship & prayer! Those ladies love The Lord and they express it whole heartedly! They are so full of gratitude for the opportunity First Love has given them!
