New Hope Uganda is comprised of 7 family groups with approximately 15 children each. Since NHU's mission is to bring the fatherhood of Christ to the fatherless, there is a "father" who oversees each family group. Since our sponsored son, Isa, is in the Pacific Family, we spent our evenings with them for devotions & games.
Life of a family group....
Cleaning cassava for dinner (a root vegetable) that they just dug up that morning.
All the kids help with the chores to sustain the family. Each family group has a garden to grow their own food. They have to "dig" everyday (weeding with hoes).
It was Isa's turn to cook the porridge. All the kids have a rotating schedule for cooking.
David & Peter
Peter on top of the shed. Wait, where's Jonas?
Peace, who LOVES to pray & always volunteers. She says the sweetest prayers in Lugandan!
Pretending to cook (stirring mud with a corn cob)
Scovia, who is in P6 like Alea.
Sarah & Jalia wanted to learn sign language.
