About Us

My photo
We make intentional lifestyle choices to use the abundance God has given us here in the U.S., so that we can give to those less fortunate than us in 3rd world countries. We want others to see the difference as Jesus, not us. We are all sinners in need of a savior. We are NOTHING without Jesus! Everything we have comes from Him and it is such a blessing to share it!

Our 1st Day at the Kibera Slums and Raila School

Over 1 Million People living in 1 Square Mile
We took an hour long walk through the slums, not allowed to take any pictures on the "inside", plus not safe to carry your camera. Wish everyone could see the extreme poverty and the unbelievable living conditions we saw! There are no words to express.

Instant Friends!

Jonas "My whole point of going to Africa is to play football (soccer)."

A chameleon!

The new dormatory at First Love. Our team sleeps on the bottom floor and the 53 kids sleep above us.  Our family has our own apt...3 bedrooms (but of course the kids slept with us!), bathroom, kitchenette, sitting room. The dogs broke into our room and got mud and hair all over our beds, so when we arrived at 3 am, we had to redo all the beds!  Our beds are still full of fleas! Plus we saw a cockroach the first night. But it's really a beautiful facility.  Alea found a Nancy Drew book she hasn't read yet, in the library upstairs!

  1. What a day! LOVE the pictures! The poverty reminds me so much of our time in Ethiopia and that van...sure reminds me of the MANY hours we spent in our guide's van driving around Ethiopia to meet our Compassion child and see where our boys were from. I love African children- they have so much passion and their smiles just amaze me! Love the jump roping and soccer pictures too- that one of Jonas with the kids is my favorite!
Can't wait to see more- looks like you're already having such a great time!
