About Us

My photo
We make intentional lifestyle choices to use the abundance God has given us here in the U.S., so that we can give to those less fortunate than us in 3rd world countries. We want others to see the difference as Jesus, not us. We are all sinners in need of a savior. We are NOTHING without Jesus! Everything we have comes from Him and it is such a blessing to share it!

Raila School in the Kibera Slums

First Love runs a feeding program at Raila School.

Rinsing the rice.  Rice & beans, corn & yellow peas, ugali, bulgar (grain), are the main dishes served...lots of starch!  This is the only meal the kids get every day...they often bring some extra home for their families.

Cooking rice for the 1000+ students at Raila School.

One of Kenya's main dishes--Ugali (ground maize paste). Tastes dry, gritty and bland.

Joey sampling the ugali and greens.

The railroad above the school that runs thru the slums and serves as a road for walking.

Playing games/relays that Joey and Anissa planned for Kids Club.

The children have the most beautiful smiles.

Jen...my Kibera sweetheart.  Each place we go, there is one child who sticks out and immediately steals your heart for that day.  They lock eyes with you and their smile pierces your soul.  They are the last face you see as you pull away at the end of the day and they chase the van, waving widly after you.

Jonas running down the hill and jumping over the boys...they come up with the most creative ways to play and have fun!

First Love Kids (who we live with) giving us a tour of their dorm.  This gorup is Alea's main gang of girls.

Playing cars and making dirt roads outside the dorm.
