This is the first time we've traveled to the western part of Uganda and surely this is where this country got its nick name--"the pearl of Africa". We were amazed by the fertile beauty....green as far as the eye can see! An extremely agricultural area. We drove past banana plantations:
And massive tea plantations:

Because the area is so hilly, they grow their crops straight up the hillside, even surrounding a lake like below. (I'm not sure how they weed without falling backwards into the water! ;)We are not sure why it is green, but this is actually a crater lake. There were many volcanic features in the area including several crater lakes. Below are twin crater lakes that we hiked to:
