To raise money to build cabins at the camp so they can host larger groups, Syd Sparks and another New Hope Uganda staff biked 39 days, 2,377 miles, from the Pacific Ocean in WA to Lake Michigan in WI. The very last leg of the journey left from our church parking lot. Several people from church biked the 44 miles to the shore or Lake MI, including an 11 yr old girl!
The goal was to raise enough money for 10 cabins and 2 bath houses, and they raised enough for 7 cabins and 2 bath houses.
It was fun to see Cabin #1 already completed!
The boys cleared the ground surrounding the cabin and Eric leveled the dirt with the skid loader.
We worked on cleaning & painting the inside of Cabin #2
And again Eric leveled the ground around the 2nd cabin as well, to get ready for planting grass:
Joey cut & hung 60 pieces of screen for the gutters on Cabins 1 & 2 while Jill, Taylor & Kaitlyn painted the metal doors & windows:
Cabin #3 is well underway!
It was fun to watch how fast the walls went up while we were there!
Now 4 more cabins to go! Would YOU love to be a part of raising money for the full 10?
